But at what point does “staying in virtual contact” with another person cross the border and turn into a digital hoax? While the boundaries are hazy, the consequences for most people are very real.

Before the Internet was invented, narrowing down the field of infidelity in a relationship was already a difficult task.

Digital infidelity occurs when people use emails, text messages, and social media accounts to develop romantic and emotional ties with someone other than their couple. Our tech-centric world may have made all of this easier too.

Relationships are complicated, and the manual of traditional monogamy no longer works for everyone, which is fine if those in the relationship are on the same page.

If one is not satisfied with their real relationship, virtual ones can be a support or comfort.

The protagonists of a virtual adventure may never have held hands, or they may never have exchanged words face to face, but the attachment and the chats are there, and they are real.
